Introduction to the councillor's role
We are recognised as being one of the best performing councils in Britain. We take immense pride in the excellent services we deliver to the residents of Camden. Our councillors and officers also aim to be forward looking and imaginative in the careful planning of their delivery.
Camden has a new community strategy called Camden Together, which was launched in March 2007. Camden Together sets out the vision for the borough between 2007 and 2012.
The community strategy is the plan for the borough as a whole and is shared by all the members of the Local Strategic Partnership. Residents are also key to ensuring the success of the strategy. The corporate plan sets out how we will help deliver the community strategy. The overall vision is for Camden to be a borough of opportunity.
We aim to give you some useful information about Camden Council and a flavour of the role of a councillor. Becoming a councillor in Camden means being at the heart of local democracy. It represents a big investment by you as a citizen in our community and it can be both tremendously challenging and rewarding.
