Parking, Parking measures

Camden Council, in conjunction with the Corporation of London, is reviewing parking and loading arrangements in the High Holborn/Holborn corridor and some side streets.

The consultation proposals mainly involve new pay and display and loading bays in side roads, or changing the balance between these types of bays. Residents’ parking bays are not affected by these proposals.

Consultants JMP have studied this area, and their report can be viewed from this webpage. Based on the study, the Council has selected components that it wants to consult on, and these are dealt with in this consultation.

Holborn is a busy and lively area where the requirements of residents, businesses and visitors have to be balanced. A lot of businesses are located in this area with special delivery needs. A questionnaire was sent to businesses in the study area, asking them about the pattern of deliveries and associated loading/unloading requirements.

In conjunction with surveys of parking activity and queues at traffic lights, and a review of existing loading and parking arrangements, various proposals were developed that are being consulted on here. Fuller details about JMP’s findings and the above information is given in JMP’s report, which provides background to the consultation questionnaire.

Residents and businesses close to the proposals have been sent a self-completion consultation.
