Quality of the environment, Transport and Streets
We propose to make Dog Control Orders under Section 55 of the Clean Neighbourhoods and Environment Act 2005.
Dog Control Orders replace the previous system of bylaws for the control of dogs and also the London Borough of Camden Dogs (Fouling of Land) Order 2002 made under The Dogs (Fouling of Land) Act 1996.
The Dog Control Orders (Prescribed Offences and Penalties, etc) Regulations 2006 provide for five offences, which may be prescribed in a Dog Control Order as follows:
- failing to remove dog faeces
- not keeping a dog on a lead
- not putting, and keeping, a dog on a lead when directed to do so by an authorised officer
- permitting a dog to enter land from which dogs are excluded
- taking more than a specified number of dogs onto land
Please note:
- These proposals do not apply to Primrose Hill or Regents Park
- The Dogs on Lead Order does not apply to Hampstead Heath
We hereby invite representations on our proposal to make the following Dog Control Orders:
Camden website, Focus groups, Presentations, Public meeting
