At the post office
There is no longer a charge for paying your council tax at a Post Office branch.
To ensure that you do not get charged for this service, you will need to bring with you your letter, which we recently sent out to you. The letter contains your new Post Office barcode, which you will need to make a payment.
If you did not receive a letter or have misplaced it then please contact the council tax team on 020 7974 6470 and they will arrange for a new bill to be sent to you.
There will be a charge if you do not show this letter when making a payment at a Post Office branch.
All other payment methods, including via PayPoint agents, remain unchanged.
You will receive your new payment book, which will include the new barcode in March next year. If your account number changes before then, then a new payment book will be sent to you with your new council tax bill. Once you receive your new payment book, you will no longer need to take this letter with you to the Post Office.
If you have any questions please check our council tax pages where you will find answers to FAQs or you can phone us on 020 7974 6470.
Please always allow adequate time for your payment to reach your account by the due date.
In most cases instalments must be received by the first day of every month, from April to January.
