Health and Safety at work

The London Borough of Camden provides both enforcement and an advice service for Health and Safety at work.

The Health and Safety at Work Act is enforced either by the Health and Safety Executive or by the London Borough of Camden, depending on the type of premises concerned:

  • building sites
  • railways

Premises enforced by the London Borough of Camden include:

  • offices, banks and building societies
  • hotels, hostels, guest houses and residential care homes
  • night clubs, theatres, cinemas, sports facilities, museums, art galleries, restaurants, hairdressers, tattooing and body piecing and beauty salons
  • dome warehouses (not long term storage premises)
  • privately run nursing (but not child care in the home)
  • all retail shops
  • tyre and exhaust fitters
  • market stalls, coin operated launderettes and mobile vendors
